DINING night while accompanied by a burning candle is often seen as a romantic event for couples in love. However, the candle was also a source of air pollution in the room.
Researchers from the University of South Carolina, United States, comparing the petroleum-based candles and vegetables to determine emissions. They burned many candles for 6 hours in a small box. The air inside the box are analyzed.
The result, based candle wax is most commonly found in the market was issued a hazardous fumes containing toluene and benzene. The researchers concluded lit candles once in a while will not hurt. However, frequently lit candles in the room that has bad ventilation can cause health problems such as allergies and throat, causing inflammation.
